ABINGDON UTD 5 v 1 ABINGDON TOWN
Utd went into this fixture on the back of their
first loss in the league,if they felt any nerves they didn't
show as they started very brightly with some good passing
and movement all over the pitch creating chances ,but
without testing the keeper.
Pablo Haysham going close on 15min with a good
effort,Nick Christadoulou finishing a fine run with a
rasping drive back across the face of the goal on 24mins.
Town threatened with quick breakaways but did'nt
test debutant Jamie Moulds goal.Utd still kept pressing and
on 28mins a neat one two between Conor Hunt and Chris
Howells ended with hunts effort hitting the bar,Chris
Howells then went fine run from the half way line jinking
his way past players but blasting his shot past the right
upright.
Utd then seemed to become impatient and tried to
force the ball,Town,s ball over the top was still causing
problems but they too couldn't find the finnish.
The breakthrough came on 35mins when haysham was
adjudged to of been brought down in penalty area.Hunt
stepped up to take Utds first pen of the season and fired it
into the bottom right hand corner.Utd then settled into
playing football once more and were rewarded with a terrific
strike from haysham from all of 25yds on 40mins to put utd 2
-0 up at half time.
The second half started with Utd getting into their
stride quickly, and the midfield trying to thread balls
through to the strikers, but getting caught offside on
numerous occasions.
On 60mins Haysham received a through ball to his
feet and took it round the goalie to slot it home for his
second goal of the game. After attemps by both teams Haysham
again found himself with a through ball and dinked it over
the oncoming keeper for his hatrick on 68mins.Town hit back
on 75 mins with a long ball over the top being misjudged by
Utds defence,Ben Ellwood taking full advantage with a
delightfull lob over the stranded Mould.
Town then had a good effort saved by the impressive
Mould who turned the shot round the post.Haysham then added
his fourth and Utds fifth of the night on 82 mins when some
good work on the right flank by Jack Farr which ended with a
good finnish from Haysham just inside the box.
The game was well contested by both sides played in
the right spirit.
All in all a good result for Utd.
