Its been a hard few weeks for us first travelling to
Taunton then on to Paulton. To come away with 2 draws you
would normally say for a team in our position its a great
effort from the boys. But I'm disappointed because I
thought in both games especially at Paulton where we played
some great football we could have took all the points.
Its that inconsistency issue with us thats our downfall at
times, because you never know what your going to get from
us, we're either good or bad - But as I've said before
theres alot of these lads that have stepped up from the
league below so you have to accept it takes time for players
to adjust - You only have to look at Luke Carnell who is a
prime example of what can happen when you get a full season
under your belt. This season hes really gone up a level and
is now producing consistent performances everyweek.
And I'm delighted for him.
Theres no question if this group of players can produce the
levels thats required on a more regular basis like we're
slowly starting to do and have alittle more belief in there
own abilities then theres everychance we can improve on last
seasons finish.
On a personal note I'd also like to welcome Mark Collier to
the club whos come in as my assistant. Mark approached me a
few weeks back and asked if I would be interested while he
waits for the right job to come along for him. I didnt
need to think twice on it thats for sure - Mark has had a
terrific record at these levels notably with Swindon
Supermarine over the years, and has a wealth of experience.
So the opportunity to have him on board whether short or
longer term was to good to miss.
We entertain Gosport this Saturday, which we know will be
another tough test for us with the quality they have. If we
go out though and produce what we did at Paulton then we're
have everychance to build on the last couple of weeks.
